Rescinding ‘Right To Work’
The Working Kansas Alliance stands united against misleading “Right to Work” laws because we know what they really do — weaken unions, lower wages, and divide working people. In order to comprehensively protect the rights of workers in Kansas, we need to rescind Right to Work, or at the very least, secure the right to have citizen-led ballot initiatives. These are critical moves that must be made to ensure that we have the power to stand up for workers.
‘Right to Work’ laws sound fair on the surface, but their true purpose is to strip working Kansans of the collective strength that comes from standing together. By allowing some workers to benefit from union representation without contributing their fair share, “Right to Work” laws create a system where solidarity is punished and division is rewarded.
States with “Right to Work” laws have lower average wages, fewer benefits, and higher workplace injury rates. Working Kansas Alliance is working to get ‘Right to Work’ out of our state and continue to grow the number of Kansans benefitting from fair pay, safe working conditions, and dignity on the job.
